WESTS Tigers coach Jason Taylor and captain Aaron Woods have brought a post-match media conference to a premature end in the face of persistent questioning over suspended star Tim Simona.
Simona has admitted to betting on opposition players to score against the joint venture, taking funds intended for charity and using cocaine. He has been suspended indefinitely by the NRL.
“Let’s go,” prop Woods said after reporters continued to ask questions about Simona.
Taylor had earlier said: “Today I just want to talk about today’s game. I’ve got some comments to make about that situation and how that came out today but I don’t want to make those comments today.
“What I can confirm is that I’ll be making some comments over the next couple of days about the whole thing.”
When Woods was asked his reaction, he said: “I didn’t read the paper today. I didn’t see it.”
Taylor then interjected: “I’ve clearly said I’m going to comment about it in the next couple of days. You can ask another 10 of them if you like but we ain’t gonna answer them so let’s get on with it.”
However Taylor and Woods had no patience for more than two more questions on the subject. The tetchy end to the presser was edited out of the NRL.com press conference video.
The question which prompted Woods to get to his feet was “do you think Tim should get a second chance?”
