Season-ending Matt Scott Injury Confirmed

NORTH Queensland have confirmed co-captain Matt Scott has suffered a likely season-ending anterior cruciate knee injury.

Prop Scott was forced off during the 21-20 overtime win over Brisbane on Friday night and underwent scans upon his return to Townsville.

“It’s obviously a huge blow for Matt and he’s understandably devastated,” coach Paul Green said in a statement.
“He’ll have surgery then start his rehab, and knowing the type of player and person he is, he’ll approach his recovery in the same dedicated way he trains and plays … with 100 per cent commitment.”

In the same media release, the Cowboys said winger Antonio Winterstein (broken arm) and fullback Lachlan Coote (torn calf) would be sidelined for “several weeks”.
The news will undoubtedly lead to the 2015 premiers blowing out in 2017 betting markets. They have opened the campaign with overtime victories over Canberra and Brisbane.

Scott is off contract at the end of the year, meaning he may have played his last game for his only NRL club.
