Danika Priim has stepped down as RFL vice-president pending the outcome of a court case.
As first reported by the Daily Mail, the former Bradford Bulls and Leeds Rhinos forward appeared before Leeds magistrates last Thursday after being charged with sexual assault. No pleas were entered and the case was sent to Leeds Crown Court, to be heard on March 13.
Priim was elected as RFL vice-president last September, but the governing body issued a statement on Thursday evening announcing she had stood down from her position at least until the case is resolved.
“The Rugby Football League can confirm that it has been agreed that Danika Priim will voluntarily stand down from her role as RFL vice-president whilst ongoing legal proceedings take place,” the statement read.
“The Rugby Football League will be making no further comment until completion of the legal proceedings.”
Priim is accused of sexually touching a woman at Horsforth Cricket Club in West Yorkshire on July 22, 2022.
The 40-year-old, who also represented England during her playing career, officially began her role as one of the RFL’s vice-presidents earlier this year.
