Key executive departs RFL

BY JOHN DAVIDSON

Mark Foster, chief commercial officer of the RFL, has left the organisation to take up a post with England Netball.

Foster has served as chief commercial officer for the past two and half years, in charge of marketing, commercial sales and communications, and before that spent two and half years as general manager of Super League.

Between 2014 and 2018 he served as the RFL’s commercial, marketing and communications director, and previously as the marketing director of the 2013 Rugby League World Cup.

Foster has also held roles as a non executive director of UK Anti-Doping, as commercial director of Newcastle Falcons rugby union club, as marketing director of Durham County cricket club, as a consultant with Everton and as CEO of South Northumberland cricket club.

He has been appointed as chief commercial officer of England Netball.

On his exit from the RFL, Foster posted on LinkedIn: “Really excited for a new challenge with England Netball. Women’s sport is growing so rapidly and with the aim to fully professionalise the sport, the recent launch of NETBALLHer and a World Cup this summer there’s so much opportunity.

“I have loved my time in Rugby League and like to think that I leave the sport in a better position than when I started, which was always the aim.

“I am so thankful for the great experiences it has given me and to have worked with such amazing colleagues, clubs, players, broadcasters & partners.”

The RFL has been approached for comment.

Foster spent 11 years working in rugby league and is one of a number of senior executives who have left the RFL and Super League in the past six months including Ralph Rimmer, Karen Moorhouse, Jon Dutton and Rob Porteous.
