Salford halback Jackson Hastings will receive treatment from an eye doctor in a bid to be fit for Thursday’s semi-final against Castlford.
Hastings took a blow to one of his eyes from Wigan forward Tony Clubb late in the 18-12 loss to the Warriors.
The knock, which went unpunished by the referee, blurred the vision in his eye and left him struggling to see.
Hastings and Clubb had a running battle throughout the game and before their stand off, the prop swung an elbow to the back of the halfback’s head as he dived over for a try.
The Australian protested to the referee after it but no decision was made by referee Rob Hicks.
Ian Blease, Salford’s director of rugby and operations, has called on the match review panel to take action over the two flashpoints involving Clubb.
“We are still getting Jackson specialist treatment for his eye damage, however I am now putting full trust in the match review panel to do their job properly and take the appropriate action on the incidents that took place in Friday’s game,” Blease told rugbyleaguehub.com Long Reads.
Hastings remains in some doubt to be right for Thursday’s semi-final, according to Blease.
The playmaker’s mother, Megan Harrod, posted on Instagram after the match a picture of the 23-year-old with a bandage over his eye on the team bus.
Harrod wrote: “Not what I wanted to see when Jacko just facetimed me, lost the vision in his right eye off to see eye doctor first thing in the morning. First the elbow when he scored then scratched him in eye asshole #onlycatsscratch #cheapshot”. Â
