Several former Featherstone Rovers players have alleged the Championship club owes them money, echoing last year’s payment crisis.
On Friday former Featherstone winger Greg Eden posted on X: “@FevRoversRLFC @mart_vickers Hi martin, can’t seem to get hold of you for love nor money especially money. When will I be paid the terms we agreed? Just let me know mate, a txt or phone call would be nice”.
Ex-Rovers prop Samy Kibula also tweeted: “That makes two of us…”
rugbyleaguehub.com Long Reads understands that more players than just Eden and Kibula are alleging that the club owes them wages.
When approached for comment, Featherstone CEO Martin Vickers said: “With Greg unfortunately we can’t comment about agreements bound by confidentiality agreements by both parties.
“I will have to examine further with Sammy not aware of any issues.”
Eden played 15 games for Featherstone in 2024, scoring one try. The winger joined Hunslet at the start of this year.
Kibula joined Rovers on loan from Batley in July last year, but is on the books of the Bulldogs in 2025.
An RFL spokesperson told rugbyleaguehub.com Long Reads that the governing body has been in contact with the club after social media posts were flagged, and that the RFL cannot comment further “because of contractual matters between players and club”.
Last year a group of players claimed Featherstone owed them money from the 2023 season, including Dane Chisholm, Elijiah Taylor, Bailey Gill, Johnathan Ford, Mark Kheirallah and Ryley Jacks.
Agents and ex-staff alleged the second division side also owed them money, while the club was also hit with five county court judgments over unpaid debts for around £32,000.
In June Investec filed a winding-up application to the High Court against Featherstone.
Jacks took Rovers to court and won back the money he was owed. It is believed Chisholm used a debt collection service and received most of what he was owed.
Former Rovers player Ben Mathiou also won an employment tribunal judgment against the club in 2023.
Ex-Featherstone halfback Bailey Gill is claiming the club still owes him money from 2022.
