We have a culture problem in Rugby League, it’s not exclusive to the code, but certainly one that needs to change. Junior match officials are subject to both verbal and physical abuse because NRL fans hold the belief it’s okay to abuse match officials. The abuse is so bad that many junior officials walk away from the profession as it’s not worth cost of being assaulted.
