CATALANS convincing 26-4 win at Castleford in trying conditions was marred by allegations their France international Jordan Dezaria was abused in an unspecified manner by a supporter, promopting him to report the incident.
Fullback Sam Tomkins scored a crucial late try and was named player of the match as the Perpignan side wore down their opponents in driving rain at Mend-a-Hose Jungle.
The Dezaria incident was reported on Sky Sports during the second half.
“The first time especially, when it was coming down, there was literally no attack from either side,” said Tomkins, who finished the match in the sin bin for a professional foul.
“it was all about defence and we were winning that arm wrestle.”
CATALANS 26 (Pangai Da Costa Yaha Tomkins tries Tomkins 5 goals) beat CASTLEFORD 4 (Senior try) at Mend-a-Hose Jungle.
