Exclusive: Castleford Tigers are targeting more Salford Red Devils players following the signing of prop Brad Singleton.

rugbyleaguehub.com Long Reads understands Castleford are keen on bringing Salford utility Chris Atkin and winger Ethan Ryan to the Jungle.

The Red Devils remain a basket case, and under special measures, with serious doubts over their sustainability and their ability to keep paying their players and staff each money.

Marc Sneyd has already left for Warrington and Singleton has followed him out the door to the Tigers.

It has been reported that centre Tim Lafai is set to return to Australia, while Nene Macdonald has attracted interest from Oldham and other clubs.

Now Atkin and Ryan may be the next to depart Salford.

According to several sources, Castleford are interested in the pair and in signing them as soon as possible. The Tigers have had a disastrous start to the season with just one victory from the opening rounds.

Asked about his club’s interest in Ryan and Atkin, Castleford coach Danny McGuire told rugbyleaguehub.com Long Reads: “I like them both. Played and coached them both. Great lads.

“Would be [interested] if they were available but I don’t know if they are.”

McGuire worked with the duo at Hull KR.

Ryan spent four seasons at the Robins, making 42 appearances. The 28-year-old joined Salford in 2024.

Atkin had two and a half seasons at Hull KR, after joining from Swinton in July 2017. The 32-year-old made 66 appearances for the Robins before moving to the Red Devils in 2020.

Salford continue to not respond to any requests for comment.
