Daryl Powell backed Max Jowitt to stake a claim as an England international after the full-back signed a contract extension with Wakefield Trinity.
The 27-year-old has agree a contract which will see him remain with his hometown club for at least two more seasons beyond the end of 2025, with a third-year option included.
Jowitt starred on Trinity’s return to the Betfred Super League last Saturday, scoring two tries and being named player of the match as they beat Leeds Rhinos 14-12 at AMT Headingley, and head coach Powell was in no doubt there is plenty more to come from him.

“He has grown into a high-quality-full back in all areas of the game,” Powell said.
“His best years are ahead of him and I believe he will grow further and challenge as an international full-back in the future.”
Jowitt, whose father Ian also represented Wakefield, has racked up over 150 Trinity appearances since making his debut in 2014.
A prolific goal-kicker as well, he became the first player in professional rugby league history to score 500 points in a season as Wakefield won the Betfred Championship and AB Sundecks 1895 Cup last year.
If he can continue that progress in Super League, starting with the visit of 2024 Grand Final runners-up Hull KR to the DIY Kitchens Stadium in the Round 2 opener on Thursday, then it will surely pique the interest of England head coach Shaun Wane ahead of this autumn’s Ashes series.
Jowitt’s only focus for now, however, is helping Trinity become an established force in Super League.
“I’m a Wakefield lad so being able to secure the next couple years of my future at my hometown club is pretty special,” Jowitt said.
“I’ve been at the club a long time and seen a lot but it was an easy decision to stay with the club and I’m excited to be a part of the journey that the club is on.”
News of Jowitt’s contract extension follows Wakefield signing 20-year-old forward Noah High from Powell’s former club Warrington Wolves on an initial two-year deal with a third-year option.
