Blake Austin’s knee injury is not expected to rule him out of selection at this stage for Great Britain’s tour to New Zealand and Papua New Guinea next month.
Austin hurt his knee in Warrington’s defeat to Castleford on Thursday. It believed the five-eighth suffered a medial ligament injury.
The knock has put in serious doubt his chances of being selected for the Lions.
However, rugbyleaguehub.com Long Reads has been told by Warrington officials today that the initial diagnosis is Austin is likely to be sidelined for just four weeks.
That would mean he would be fit to take on Tonga in the first GB Test in Hamilton on October 26.
The 28-year-old will undergo more scans in the coming days.
Austin was included in a Lions squad named earlier this month, along with fellow Australian Lachlan Coote.
