Yesterday, a combination of Mary’s blog on crowd numbers, which if you haven’t read is available here, and myself looking at seating for the upcoming Manly v Eels game has prompted me to do a little investigation around what effect the ticket prices have on crowds.
I went to buy tickets to the Eels game at Brookvale and found the cheapest grandstand seats were $43. The most expensive were a whopping $63. There has been a lot said in the media about the weekend’s low crowd numbers so I decided to do a little analysis on ticket prices for each venue and link that to the average crowds.
I had every intention of doing the analysis and writing a post on Ladies Who League about how the venues with the highest ticket prices pulls the lowest crowds and the NRL need to do something to fix the ticket prices. However what I found was not what I was expecting at all. What I found is that the venues with higher ticket prices pulled a larger average crowd for the 2013 NRL season.
