FORMER Melbourne Storm chief executive and NRL salary cap consultant Mark Evans has been linked to the Boston bid for British league inclusion.
Citing documents seen by League Express, the magazine this morning also named Australian-based American entrepreneur Spencer Kassimir as a key part of the bid for a team from Beantown to enter League One or the Championship some time in the next two years.
League Express reported that Kassimir was the prime mover behind the bid, which is expected to join others from New York and Hamilton, Ontario following the success of Toronto Wolfpack, while Evans was acting as a consultant.
Evans was Storm chief executive for two years from 2013 and also headed up Saracens and Harlequins rugby union clubs. After leaving Melbourne he prepared a report on salary cap reform for League Central.
Departing Rugby Football League and Super League chief executive Nigel Wood is expected to visit the north-eastern United States – and possibly south-east Canada – in the coming weeks to run the rule over the bids
