Myler knocked out in Rhinos debut, Peteru fails to make starting line

RICHIE Myler was knocked out while fellow Leeds recruit Nathaniel Peteru failed to play as Leeds won their Boxing Day friendly against Wakefield.
Myler, 27, copped a knock in the 17-10 win at Belle Vue and was barred by medical staff from continuing.
Peteru, snared from Gold Coast Titans, was a late scratching.
Asked about the performance of Myler, coach Brian McDermott said: “He’s been great in pre-season so far but you’ve got to put it into a game.
“Without being outstanding, which he wasn’t … at same time, he just made sure everyone else played well which is what we want our halves to do, to ensure everyone else has a good platform to play from.
“I thought both him and Jordan’s (Lilley) kicking game was a bit wishy-washy. It wasn’t anything. It wasn’t long, it wasn’t short, it wasn’t high, it wasn’t low.
“But towards the back end of that half, it was good. It’s a shame he got knocked out because I thought he was getting more into it.
“He’s OK but the doc wouldn’t let him back on.”
Peteru had three years at Robina before linking with Leeds for the 2017 campaign.
“He’s had some rumblings with his knee, which is causing some sort of hammy,” said McDermott.
“We’re just looking at that. I think if we forced him to play, he’d play but … no need.”
In the other Boxing Day games, Featherstone shocked Castleford 32-16, Batley beat Dewsbury 28-16 and Bradford downed Halifax 22-6.
