NEW St Helens signing Zeb Taia has expressed his excitement at his imminent move to the club on his Instagram page.
Taia shared a video of his new shirt name and number being printed alongside the caption: Thanks for showing me heaps of love @saints1890!!! I’m looking forward to putting on the New colours soon!!! I’m grateful for the opportunity that has risen in front of me and my family and can’t wait to get there and rip in for a club that has so much proud history… Special thanks to my team mates at the @gctitans for showing me support in this tough decision… at the end of the day it’s a tough business and I had every intention to be a Titan for the 2017 season but opportunities pop up and this was too hard to refuse.
Saints boss Kieron Cunningham is also eager to welcome the 2015 Super League dream team second rower, saying: “We’re delighted to have signed a player of Zeb’s calibre and he will bolster our squad immediately. He is powerful, possesses a great offload and like our other signings this season, will bring big-game experience to the Saints.”
The move arose when it became clear Joe Greenwood was keen to move immediately to the Gold Coast rather than wait until the end of the 2017 Super League season. Saints acquired Taia in a swap deal with the Titans to fill the void in their back row.
