TALENT scouts and player agents will be scouring coverage of the Sydney Nines on watch.rugbyleaguehub.com today.

rugbyleaguehub.com announced yesterday it would streaming the most prestigious Nines tournament of the year from New Era Stadium in Cabramatta, starting just after 10am local time on Saturday, February 20.

The tournament features 22 men’s and women’s teams, including national sides from Ireland, Italy, Vietnam, Niue, Malta, Lebanon, the Philippines and Greece.

“This is a great chance for me to take a look at some raw talent,” said veteran NRL talent scout Peter Mulholland.

“I’ll be tuning in throughout the day.”

Player agent Matt Desira, from Aria Management would be another committed viewer. The manager of superstar Benji Marshall said you never knew where there next diamond was coming from.

“I can’t be there so watching on rugbyleaguehub.com is the next best thing.

“it’s my job to unearth talent and I get excited every time I see a player who has that individual flair.”

An agreement has been reached between events company NovoSports, rugbyleaguehub.com and the tournament organisers for the most prestigious event in any non World Cup Nines year to be streamed.

The Sydney Nines began life as the Cabramatta International Nines in 2008. The tournament – largely the result of the hard work of international rugby league pioneer Tas Baitieri – is back with a new name after the 2020 edition was cancelled due to COVID.

Fans of rugby league – or indeed of fast-paced, athletic entertainment – can catch 10 hours of action from  just after 10am Sydney time (11pm Friday UK, midnight Rome, midday Saturday Auckland, 3pm Friday Los Angeles) by going to watch.rugbyleaguehub.com.

rugbyleaguehub.com and its operators Langley Smith previously broadcast the Great Britain Lions 2019 Tour, the 2019 World Cup Nines, 13-a-side World Cup qualifiers and Super League into selected regions around the world.

However, this weekend’s event will not be geoblocked in any way and will be completely free to access, following a sign-up.

Fans can follow the results and access team lists and statistics at rugbyleaguenines.com.

Some 3000 players in the Cook Islands, Ghana, Fiji, New Zealand, Brazil and Papua New Guinea have already played Nines this year, despite the adverse global conditions and the fact that in most regions it is the traditional rugby league off-season.
